I traveled 90 miles from home to have my surgery. After a single night in the hospital I was given the option to leave. I didn't want to do that. My pain was not under control.
I deposited my breakfast in the sink, and was in more pain than ever at the time I was asked if I wanted to go home. I knew insurance had only pre-approved a 1 day stay, but there was no way I was ready to go home.
If there are medical reasons you need to stay insurance will extend the length of time you can stay in the hospital. Don't rush home if your pain is not under control, and kept you awake, or there are other medical issues that need to be resolved. It may be necessary to extend your hospital stay beyond a single night.
