Unexpectedly receiving a the diagnosis of prostate cancer (after I'd been complaining about bone pain) was the most frightening experience of my life. I had a few nights where I stayed up worrying for many more hours than I slept. I don't know how I came to hear this song, but it was just the song I needed to hear. I can't even put into words what it meant to me to know that help was on the way. I hope this song would bless all those who took the time to listen to it:
Help came in amazing ways. Help came from the book I read which helped me to under this disease and pick surgery as my treatment option. Help came in the form of choosing a new Urologist who referred me to UCSF and to a the surgeon who was the head of the Urology Department. Help came in the form of going on line and corresponding with men further along in the journey. Help came in the form of people who prayed for us. Help came as I heard this song for the first time:
After hearing this song, my prayer became "Lord, please don't let it take a thousand sleepless nights before I know that you are there." Thankfully, it didn't!
This was the Bible verse that came to me moments after I received the news I had prostate cancer, but the promise of peace alluded me for a few weeks. Phil 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
When I experienced that peace this song became my theme song:
During other seasons, these two songs meant a lot to me, Joni Eareckson Tada, the woman who sings this is quadriplegic. As she sang this song her husband had to push in her diaphragm, just so she could breathe properly. From my perspective it took the power of prayer to make this song possible:
Last but not least, this song reminded me to begin and end each day in the right frame of mind:
If these songs meant something to you, or you have another song that did, please share it on this thread.
