One of the biggest regrets I have 2 years after surgery is how I dealt with the 6 weeks after my biopsy before surgery. I went on a forum like this and asked if I should take time off from work and go away with my wife.
Looking back the advice was awful, but the reasoning made sense. That's why I followed terrible advice. The guy who replied to my post said I was too emotionally upset, to enjoy time away. He advised me to wait until after surgery to take a vacation with my wife.
I will ALWAYS regret following his advice. After surgery I was going through 15 diapers a day. For months I refused to leave the house, let a lone go away on a vacation.
Based on my experience I'd say this: If you can get time off from work before surgery, take time off and go away.
Go someplace you'll both enjoy. Have a wonderful time. If you have a satisfying sex life create wonderful memories together. Also take time to discuss ways in which you can maintain your sex life together if you loose the ability to have erections for many months following surgery.
I hope this thread will be used for men/couples to share where they went, suggest fun places and things to do, so men waiting for surgery will use their time wisely.
