More than 2 years post surgery and I still need the mattress protector we purchased prior to surgery. Leaking urine out of a diaper or pad is possible, and we have an expensive mattress. If you go with a mattress protector make sure you get once WITHOUT vinyl. That way you won't even know it's there.
My rectum was so sore, I regret I didn't buy a donut pillow, which I would liked to have for 90 minute ride home.
If you are one of the fortunate people who regain urinary control after the catheter is pulled then you won't need these:
Diapers-The best Brand I found was Depends
Pads-The best pads I found were from Tenna
I used both pads and diapers.
If other others have suggestions on helpful things to have at home, this is the thread to discuss those things.
